June Art Recap
Travel painting, shopping, and more!

Hello!
July. In the thick of Summer, with a panic in my chest that it’s “going so quickly” even though I spend all of June anticipating my birthday at the end of the month.
I had a wonderful month, and need to finish signing up for my own insurance after sending out this newsletter. Let’s get into it.

This felt like a sign. Of what I'm not sure.
Outside the Studio
This month included a lot of travel! Which is fun, but also bittersweet. The time seems to pass so much quicker!
We started by visiting my aunt and uncle and taking in some gorgeous sunsets and vintage shopping.

While looking for the Providence Recycle store, we also stumbled upon Hungry Ghost Press, an independent art and vintage shop with a zine library and insanely cool merch.

Then, it was on to a quick trip to Nantucket! I brought along my art supplies and did a little postcard of the view from our spot on the ferry.

The children's arts and crafts corner of Nantucket Bookworks is always my favorite!

I should've bought the Magic Ink...
Then at Mitchell’s Books, I picked up three new-to-me books, including the play “The Rehearsal,” which I totally finished on the ferry ride back!

I cannot WAIT to read this!!
I’ll keep the vacation notes brief, but please enjoy the visual of this absolutely frosty mudslide from The Gazebo. It was my first and last drink there, since this was the first trip I reached the entry age of 25, and the Gazebo and the adjacent restaurant are both closing down this year.
It was absolutely perfect.

Midnight Oil Updates
I am all for creating that which doesn’t exist BUT wow actually that is kind of hard.
Who knew.
I’m just a gorgeous woman looking for event venues and omg they do NOT make it easy!!

Another month, and very happily another audition! I took no photos and have no proof, but it was an in-person audition and I should be hearing the results this week. What’s meant for me won’t pass me by!!
Studio Updates
We stopped at Blick’s in Boston on the way to Hyannis, and I picked up the new granulating Gansai-Tambi watercolors to try! I was really impressed with the granulation on these, and look forward to trying them on a real piece.

I also finished up the hands I was painting in my sketchbook last month with some leftover acrylic paints, gouache, Posca markers, and pens. I’d love to revisit this concept on canvas!

The Lovers
I also finished my half of the art trade I’ve been working on in exchange for the goose dream sweater! I want to wait to share it with you until the artist sees it in person, so pardon the suspense! Here’s the palette for the piece in the meantime.

Acrylic paint I love uuuu
So much done, but so much irrelevant to this newsletter! I also completed some graphic design work this month, which was SO fun, and I’m starting July with a round of face painting! I love being multi hyphenate :-)
More soon,
Alex :)
